THE BEGINNING
For years, I thought confidence was something you found.
In a new job. A different season of life. A smaller dress size. A holiday you had been counting down to for months. But the older I got, the more I realised confidence wasn't something waiting for me somewhere else. It was already there.
It just got buried.

Like so many women, I spent years putting myself at the bottom of my own list. Responsibilities, school runs, deadlines, caring for everyone else, and the constant pressure to be more. More productive. More available. More everything.
And then something happened. Every time I went away, even if it was only for a few days, I felt different. Not because of the destination. Because for the first time in a long time, I had permission to slow down. To get dressed without rushing. To sit outside a restaurant and order another drink. To wander through a city with nowhere particular to be. To remember who I was outside of everything I needed to do for everyone else.
Every time I went away, even for just a few days, I felt different.
There was always one dress. The dress I couldn't wait to wear. The one that made me stand a little taller. The one that made me feel beautiful, feminine and completely myself. Not for anyone else. For me. That feeling became the beginning of Akosé.
